FSSAI stands for Food Safety and Standards Authority of India. It is an organization that monitors and governs the entire food trade in India. FSSAI is established under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 (FSS Act), a consolidated statute dealing with food safety and regulation in India. It ensures that food products undergo quality checks, thereby curbing food adulteration and sale of substandard products. And it sets rules and regulations for running a food business in India. The fssai food license registration varies depending on the size and nature of the business. FBOs must obtain the required registration or license depending on the size of their business.
FSSAI registration is a 14-digit registration number or license number that is printed on all food packages. The 14-digit registration number combination gives details about the state and manufacturer’s permit. The purpose of this registration process is to create more accountability on the FBO to maintain the quality of food products. The licensing and registration process and requirements are regulated by the Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Businesses) Regulations, 2011.
